    Fat Bikes

Fat Bikes have become a bit of a revolution over the past couple years although they’ve been around since the 90’s with brands such as Surly enthusiastically flying the fat bike flag but it’s taken a good while longer for the big brands (and the market in general) to catch on that they were really onto something.

Fat Bikes are essentially hardtail mountain bikes with big fat tyres - hence the name “fat” bike. The benefit of these big wide tyres is that their large surface contact area (the area on which the tyre makes contact with the ground) is much larger allowing bikes to effortlessly roll over surfaces such as mud, snow and sand on which narrower tyres used on regular mountain bikes find troublesome.

Another benefit of fat bikes is that those big wide tyres also some with big tyre sidewalls which act as suspension meaning these bikes can do without complicated suspension forks which require annual servicing however ultimately, the biggest appeal of these bikes is that they’re just a lot of fun! we doubt these have been many riders who have tried one and didn’t have an ear-to-ear grin at the end of it.

In this department you’ll also find some bikes labelled as “29+” such as the Trek Stache – these aren’t technically fat bikes per-se (they have tyres up to 3” wide) but have much wider tyres than regular mountain bikes would so we’ve added them to this department too. As the label suggests these bikes have 29” wheels which allows the bike to roll much faster as a cross country bike would so you can see them as a blend of the two types of mountain bike taking the best of both.

We offer interest free finance available on models over £400 (excl. sale bikes) and we accept Cycle Scheme vouchers too. Delivery on all bikes is free of charge within mainland UK and bikes ordered in store quality for a complimentary six-week safety check.
