Electric bikes, or eBikes as they’re more often commonly referred to as being are electrically assisted bikes in that a motor drives the bike forward as you pedal – ideal for anyone who doesn’t cycle much or for commuters but there are increasingly more models for mountain biking and other more specialist uses. We here at Scotby Cycles have been involved with eBikes for nearly 20’ years and can offer honest advice for any questions you might have about an eBike purchase and even have a range of models available to test ride in store today.
Here at Scotby Cycles we have more than 20 years’ experience with electric bikes having initially stocked them back in the day when they were essentially regular bikes with a motor driving the rear tyre accompanied with a huge battery, needless to say the technology has come on leaps and bounds in the last couple of years benefiting from better battery technology and overall better designs.
Essentially electric bikes, or eBikes as many prefer to call them are all now pedal assisted meaning that the motor delivers a set (or variable depending on the model) amount of power to the drivetrain as you pedal the bike – eBikes from back in the day which were known as “twist and go” which had a motor built into one of the wheels hubs in order to entirely drive the bike forward are now illegal in the UK.
Regardless of this technicality, the experience of riding an eBike is really quite revolutionary – unless you’re build like Wiggo you’ll ride faster than you’ll ever have before and probably further than ever without becoming quite so tired as the motor delivers power to the drivetrain for you.
Needless to say, we think you’ll love eBikes once you try one and you can today – if you’re able to we have test models available to try in store. If you’re ordering for delivery, offer interest free finance available on models over £500 and we can accept Cycle Scheme vouchers too.
