Freerider VCS Description
Five Ten have been making kids versions of their iconic Classic Freerider for many years now and to be honest, there isn’t much they could do to improve what was already a pretty awesome kid's cycling shoe.
However, one aspect they did figure could do with some attention was doing away with the fiddly laces - kids seldom have the patience to properly tie their laces before bolting out the door and out on their bike meaning either their laces will come undone or they’ll just leave them knotted tightly but fitted loosely so that they can just slip them on and off again.
Fitting three velcro straps to fasten the shoes in hindsight was a no-brainer but hey ho, they managed to transform a fantastic kid's cycling shoe into a perfect cycling shoe.
Parents will still appreciate the durable STEALTH® Marathon™ outsole which provides long-lasting, non-marking and yet sticky rubber for optimal grip on everything from dirt to concrete, STEALTH® Marathon™ is designed to go the distance. Marathon was originally developed by Five Ten to stand up to the abuse their in-house professional BMX’ers and skaters gave their shoes so the compound shouldn’t have too many difficulties serving your mini-me.
The Freerider VCS is equally for fearless kids who want to have two-wheeled adventures but also for those on family rides around trail parks or through local parks, as kids often forget to take their shoes off when walking back into the house the Marathon™ outsole is both highly durable and non-marking.
- Marathon™ rubber outsole

Five Ten Size Guide
The sizing for Five Ten shoes has shifted over the past few years, historically the shoes were famous for being quite roomy so riders would often size down. However, the later models such as anything with Pro in the name feature a more athletic, a narrower, closer fit for performance.
We'd recommend you follow the sizing advice below, testing a range of models in the office (a member of staff, typically wears a UK 10/Euro 44 and a 280mm foot length) always opted for UK 9.5 with the exception for the Freerider Pro, Impact Pro and Trailcross ranges for which he sized up to a UK 10.
- Place a piece of paper on a hard floor with one end of the wall, stand on the piece of paper (wearing socks) with the heel slightly touching the wall.
- Mark the end of your longest toe with a pencil for both feet, it's easier if you let someone help you with this.
- Measure your marking from the wall (heel) to the longest toe for both feet, take the larger of the foot lengths and compare it with the sizing chart above to work out your ideal Five Ten shoe size.
