Hybrid Bikes
Hybrid bikes are a sort of a cross between a road bike and a mountain bike, they usually have the lightweight frames, thin tyres and speed of a road bike but with a flat bar handlebar and a more upright riding position. This makes them generally much more comfortable to ride and the upright position enables a rider to be more aware of his or her surrounds - particularly important in urban environments with pedestrians and traffic.
Hybrids are very popular with Cycle to Work schemes, for commuters and for riders just looking to get into a bit of cycling without being bogged down with all the extra kit which other more specialist disciplines of cycling such as mountain biking or road cycling tend to.
