2019 Five Ten Preview

2019 might seem a long way off but as ever around this time of year, we start seeing previews of up and coming products for the following year and yesterday we had a first look at what's new from Five Ten come January ‘19 and there are a couple of fantastic new models, a slew of colour updates and some other little bits of news for 2019.

Details are still a little thin on some models in terms of specifics as we have only seen pre-production samples but once we start loading these into our stock system later in the year we’ll update this blog with links.

Five Ten Kestrel Pro

Continuing the company's commitment to not just being a flat pedal brand, the new Kestrel Pro follows in the footsteps of the Freerider Pro and Impact Pro in that they take what they have learned through the development of other models and feedback from riders then encapsulated into one high-performance model.

The Kestrel Pro is essentially a replacement for the Kestrel Clipless the only model in Five Ten’s range to feature a BOA closure system, the Kestrel Pro is an AM or “Enduro” orientated shoe with a ridiculously stiff sole and a unique non-slip heel cup for maximum power transfer.

Five Ten Sleuth DLX

The Sleuth DLX will be a replacement for the Danny MacAskill signature shoe which will be sun-setted in the coming months, taking a lot of design keys from the Danny Mac with its loafer like low profile design, whilst the DLX will be great on the trails with a sticky STEALTH® S1™ outsole and toe box protection, the shoe will be equally at home in the city, contracted with unique reflective materials which light up in traffic and a design which doesn’t scream cycling shoe and could be worn at the pub.

The Freerider Pro, Impact Pro, Hellcat Pro, Freerider Kids VCS and Sleuth all get new colours and there will (finally) a women's specific version of the Impact Pro.

2019 Five Ten Mountain Biking Shoe Range Preview

Looking through the above slideshow you might have noticed an Adidas logo or two, after purchasing Five Ten back in 2011 Adidas has steadily been taking a more control over the brand, this can be seen in much-improved product research and development over the past few years leading to fantastic new models such as the Impact Pro and Freerider Pro not to mention significantly improved build qualities compared to seven or eight years ago.

Given that models such as the Sleuth are urban orientated (we didn’t see the updated versions of the Spitfire or District at the time), Adidas has put their name on the shoes to add appeal to anyone not familiar with Five Ten because let's face it, if you’re not a keen rock climber or mountain biker you’re not likely to have heard of Five Ten which is a shame.

But the brand we all know and love isn’t going anywhere if anything Five Ten will only continue to improve over the next few years under Adidas.

All these new colours and models will be available in store and online here at Scotby Cycles in January 2019.
