ASSOS released their new MILLE GT range around February this year, comprising a mixture of Spring/Fall and Summer items we thought we’d have a look at the key products and what’s changed in the MILLE range for 2018.

The main characteristic that carries over from the previous MILLE range is the price, a more affordable, entry level price point can only help when looking to fill your cycling wardrobe.

From there, a lot has changed, ASSOS now brings a number of garments under the MILLE GT umbrella all with similar subtle detailing and graphic styles making a range that flows regardless the item of clothing you are after.

So what’s changed?

The fit- now constructed in what’s called regularFit, it sits between the previous comfortFit and racingFit. Maintaining a more regular fit prefect for commuting or leisurely rides while having less bulk on the body and a more refined fit about the shoulders leading a more aerodynamic fit.

New design- the MILLE GT range now features solid body colour while incorporation sublimated ‘Griffe GT’ mono designs on the under arms.

Product Changes- the following products are now carried under the MILLE GT range:

-MILLE GT Short Sleeve Jersey, replaces SS.milleJersey_Evo7

-tiburuJersey MILLE GT, replaces iJ.tiburu_evo7

-blitzVest MILLE GT, replaces sv.blitzFender Gilet

-blitzJacket MILLE GT, replaces sj.blitzFender Jacket

-climaJacket MILLE GT, new Product

Key Products

MILLE GT Short Sleeve Jerseymille-jersey-2

No clothing range is complete without a Short Sleeve Jersey, making the core of the MILLE range the MILLE GT Short Sleeve Jersey as mentioned above has a refined regularFit, less bulk around the waist as well as a slimmer neck and shoulder. The minor changes to the cut results in a jersey that is more comfortable in a dropped position perfect for training or club runs.

ASSOS pride themselves on making all their own material, this doesn’t change for the SS jersey, the new Type.157 Stripe Tex is constructed using a circular knit method making it lightweight and highly breathable. As with most garments in the ASSOS range odourControl prevents any nasty smells.

Here at Scotby we are extremely excited about using the SS Mille GT jersey and will have a full review coming soon.

British summer is notoriously unpredictable, however, at the time of writing, we’ve been fortune enough to have 6 weeks of glorious dry weather. Disregarding this rare weather pattern, sometimes your layering strategy is up in the air, can you get away with a jersey or are arm warmers required?

ASSOS’s tiburuJersy MILLE GT is derived for this exact kind of uncertainty, being across seasons or for changeable weather, the tiburu Jersey is constructed too add warmth but maintain breathability. This is done by using RX thermal front panelling, shielding a bit of windchill and adding a thermal layer. At the rear of the jersey ASSOS has constructed it using their Stripe Tex material, this is the lightweight and breathable material used to construct the short sleeve jersey, acting as a exhaust, it boosts breathability, its this mixture of breathable and thermal materials that will allow the tiburu jersey to perform across all-seasons.

climaclimaJacket MILLE GT

Our final key garment in the MILLE GT range is their new climaJacket, constructed from ASSOS’s preparatory NoFrost material, this two-layer material is a high-tec textile designed to provide excellent water repellency and windproof qualities is a     lightweight and compact format.

Again, unlike ASSOS’s sturmPrinz and equipe RS Jackets price point has been significantly reduced to match the MILLE GT range. At the time of writing retailing at £155 it offers an affordable insurance policy against rain and bad weather. The panelling follows ASSOS’s new MILLE regularFit, offering a close but un-restrictive fit perfect for adding layers underneath or using as a single outer layer through the summer.

We have always been big fans of the MILLE range, creating a strong back bone for a brand known for their R&D and product development, giving us mere mortals the opportunity to own quality made kit at a fraction of the cost entitled for the campionissimo for example.

For me, the time ASSOS has taken to review and refine the fit has been one the most significant changes and has certainly elevated the range. Gone are flappy shoulders and baggy stomachs, replaced now with garments to suit your local club ride through to racing ASSOS’s regularFit really is that versatile. Impressively; ASSOS has retain their sizing, a size Medium is a Medium which again is good, you can buy safe in the knowledge you’re not having to size up.

Finally we’ll mention the re-branding the MILLE GT range has received, gone is the dated reglan pattern used on the previous MILLE models, the clean and minimal Griffe GT design makes the range easy on the eye and allows different garments to match seamlessly.

If your looking for a range of clothing that offers immense band for its buck then the MILLE GT range is for you, simple, stylish and comfortable what more do you want.

Check out a full review of the MILLE GT Short Sleeve Jersey and the tiburuGilet MILLE GT coming soon.
