Previously known as the Commuter-Daypack City
One of our most popular commuter backpacks over the past few years, ORTLIEB Commuter Daypack has been updated but remains a waterproof, modern city backpack. Combining a clean design with technical highlights, abrasion-resistant PU-laminated nylon fabric and a quick access roll closure protect your belongings even in heavy rain.
A large main compartment offers plenty of space; laptops or tablets are safely stored in a padded sleeve (dimensions 39 x 27 x 2,5 cm/15.4 x 10.6 x 1.0 in).
Foam pads with ventilation channels and removable chest and shoulder straps ensure carrying comfort. Further features are a zippered outer pocket (not waterproof), an organizer with inner pockets, a fixing loop for a U-lock and rear light, and a reflective logo.

Spares and Accessories
ORTLIEB rebranded a number of their products for 2024, the Commuter-Daypack was previously called the Commuter-Daypack City.
We expect the outer packaging for such products will continue to show the previous product name for some time into 2024 as ORTLIEB use up their stocks of pre-existing packaging, so if you order a Commuter-Daypack and you receive a boxed or bagged product from us branded as Commuter-Daypack City then don't worry about it - you have recieived the product you ordered. For further information, we have a dedicated page highlighting the changes across the ORTLIEB product portfolio for 2024 onwards.Year2024MSRP£155.00PVC-free?YesIP RatingIP64
IP Ratings Explanation
IP Ratings or Ingress Protection Ratings is an internationally recognised means of rating products of various types in terms of their capacity to prevent dust or liquids from engrossing into them or through them, pretty much all of ORTLIEB’s products bare an IP rating.
The tl;dr as possible explanation is as follows;
The first digit represents the products resistance to dust with ratings ratings above 4 being resistant to anything larger than 1mm and ratings of 5 and 6 being pretty much impenetrable.
The second digit represents the products resistance to liquids, this rating is slightly more complicated than first as aspects such as the pressure of the water being sprayed onto the product and the angle matter.
A rating of 3 means the product can handle sprays of water hitting it within 60 degrees from vertical (basically, this isn’t a problem unless you plan on riding through a typhoon or on a normal summers day here in the Lake District), ratings 4 and above can handle water hitting it from any direction.
Products which bare a rating of 7 (such as some of the BikePacking and Attack products) are the Andy McNab’s of the scale as they’ll handle high pressure water jets from any direction and submersion up to 1 meter in depth.
It’s worth noting that to achieve these ratings, products must be property closed and in some cases with bags which feature roll closures a number of roles are required - each product such have a PDF data sheet available which may detail ORTLIEB’s requirements to achieve the IP rating they’ve been awarded.ClosureRoll-TopFabricsPS33Volume27 litresWeight800 gHeight50 cmWidth32 cmDepth21 cm
