Tunisia has dismissed head coach Sabri Lamouchi just one match into the World Cup after suffering a significant 5-1 loss to Sweden. The announcement of his departure came via the Tunisian football federation’s Instagram account on Monday.
In their statement, they confirmed.
“An agreement has been officially reached to dismiss coach Sabri Lamouchi,”
Tunisia is set to face Japan on Saturday at the same venue in Guadalupe where they encountered their defeat against Sweden, before concluding their group stage matches against the Netherlands in Kansas City.
Lamouchi, aged 54, had taken the helm in January but was already under scrutiny following a dismal 5-0 loss to Belgium in a pre-tournament friendly held in Brussels.
The Frenchman previously led Côte d’Ivoire during the 2014 World Cup, where his team did not progress beyond the group stage in Brazil.
